This position may be required to work a schedule of rotating shifts including nights, weekends, or holidays. All employees are subject to and agree to random drug and alcohol testing as a condition of continued employment for the duration of their assignment. The ability to obtain/maintain access to the facility is required.
Position Duties/Responsibilities
- The Field Engineer - Construction Survey Technician reports directly to the Survey Engineer - Party Chief. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Provide Construction Survey support to Lead Survey Engineer.
- Support the survey team s implementation of the project safety, quality, and environmental programs.
- Assist the Survey Engineer/Party Chief with the accurate layout of construction work, recordation of field data according to job specifications and appropriate methods of performing survey activities.
- Perform duties of a Rod Person and/or Instrument Person on a 2 or 3 person direct-hire survey crew
- Utilize survey instruments in conjunction with Bechtel survey procedures.
- Assist the Survey Engineer/Party Chief in providing support to both Field Engineering and Field Supervision.
- Assist the Survey Engineer/Party Chief to develop and maintain survey data.
- Assist the Survey Engineer/Party Chief to perform Calibration Baseline checks of survey instruments.
- Support the administration of the survey work request program.
- Assist the Survey Engineer/Party Chief to provide Civil project completion documentation including As-Built records.
- Assist in performing verifications of subcontract survey work.
Basic Qualifications
- Level 1:
A recognized Bachelor s degree in engineering or scientific discipline coupled with work experience leading to a basic understanding of the technical knowledge described above or in lieu of a degree, a high school diploma, or equivalent with a minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in the field of construction management, survey, contract law or mathematics. - Level 2:
A recognized Bachelor s degree in engineering or scientific discipline coupled with work experience leading to a basic understanding of the technical knowledge described above or in lieu of a degree, a high school diploma, or equivalent with a minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in the field of construction management, survey, contract law or mathematics - Five (5) years minimum surveying experience.
- Three (3) years minimum industrial surveying experience.
- Demonstrated experience with Robotic Total Stations, Digital Levels, and GNSS survey systems.
- Knowledge of data downloading.
- Must have the legal right to work in the US.
Preferred Skills
- Survey CAD literate; experience with Survey CAD software a plus.
- Intermediate level use of MicroSoft Word and Excel.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
